Use this guide to replace a broken, cracked, or non‑responsive screen in your iPhone 16.
You'll need replacement screen adhesive to complete this repair.
Note: Since you can't disconnect the battery during this repair, be especially careful not to use metal prying tools or touch exposed contacts in your iPhone.
After your repair, calibrate an original Apple display using [link|https://support.apple.com/en-us/120579|Repair Assistant|new_window=true].
Before you begin
Tape over any cracks
Remove the pentalobe screws
Mark your opening picks
Heat the bottom edge
Insert an opening pick
Screen information
Heat the right edge
Separate the right adhesive
Heat the top edge
Separate the top adhesive
Heat the left edge
Separate the left adhesive
Prop up the screen
Remove the connector covers
Disconnect the screen
Remove the screen
Remove the ambient light sensor bracket
Pry up the ambient light sensor
Reposition the ambient light sensor cable
Peel up the ambient light sensor cable
Remove the ambient light sensor
End of disassembly
Place the ambient light sensor
Press the ambient light sensor
Install the ambient light sensor bracket
Remove the screen adhesive
Orient the adhesive
Expose the bottom edge of the adhesive
Apply the adhesive
Press the adhesive into place
Remove the top liner
Prop up the screen
Connect the screen and front sensor
Cover the connectors
Install the cover screws
Remove the final adhesive liners
Place the screen
Heat the screen
Press the back glass
Install the pentalobe screws
After your repair, calibrate a genuine replacement screen [link|https://support.apple.com/en-us/120579|using Apple's Repair Assistant|new_window=true]. Navigate to Settings → General → About → Parts & Service History, tap Restart & Finish Repair, and follow the onscreen prompts.
